ABOUT CUBE LAB
About CUBE LAB
CUBE LAB is a personal project for turning written 3×3 notation into something you can move, time, and check without installing an app or creating an account.
Why it exists
R and R-prime are short on paper, but a beginner still has to decide which face to look at and which direction to turn. Videos can be hard to revisit and flat diagrams do not show the movement between layers. CUBE LAB keeps the explanation and a directly manipulated cube close together.
What is implemented here
- One cube state shared by drag, touch, move buttons, and keyboard input.
- A 20-move fresh scramble, browser timer, and solved-state detection.
- An anonymous leaderboard that replays the scramble and submitted move sequence on the server before accepting a personal best.
- Beginner notes that identify the target piece, the checkpoint, and a likely mistake—not only the algorithm.
How instructions are checked
Notation and controls are compared with the currently published 3D trainer. Timer and ranking explanations are matched to the same start, pause, reset, and verification conditions enforced by the code.
Automation may assist with wording or translation, but the operator reviews moves, interface behavior, and privacy descriptions before publishing. The site does not invent user experiences or expert credentials.
Current limits
- The learning guide covers a first layer-by-layer solve, not speed-solving methods such as CFOP.
- The browser timer is for practice and is not an official competition timer.
- Paused or reset attempts are not ranked, and the ranking uses anonymous codes rather than accounts.
- Average solves and solve-video storage are not currently provided.
Operation and corrections
CUBE LAB is not an official Rubik's service. The trainer and learning notes are free; advertising or affiliate links will be separated from ordinary content if added.
Incorrect moves, text that no longer matches the interface, and accessibility problems can be reported through the public contact channel without including personal information.
